Hello everyone!

And Hello 2026!

February is here and its been giving us SO MUCH RAIN – the ground is so wet and unfortunately has definitely set us back a bit with some of the work we were hoping to achieve during our closed period.

This year we will be delaying opening to the public until 14 March 2026 – and we are very much hoping for some dry weather.

We are constantly maintaining the Japanese garden (daily) but some of the maintenance is impossible to do whilst our lovely visitors are on site (primarily because the work requires very loud, electronic equipment and/or whole areas of the garden would be unsafe to visit whilst the work is being undertaken) . Therefore our closed months are a vital time for us to get some of the big jobs done.

This year we will be opening at 10am on Saturday 14th March – just in time for Mothers day and we will be open 7 days a week from then on until November.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. We look forward to welcoming you from the 14th of March for a wonderful season.

Yesterday I visited the garden for the first time this month and was pleased to find so many flowers already blooming.

The camellias are stealing the show right now with many in full bloom and many covered in buds.

Several of the early flowering azaleas are putting on a show too and there are signs of life everywhere you look.

Leaf and flower buds are in abundance on every plant.

This time of year the garden is just waking up from its winter slumber and you can feel the preparation and the energy that the plants are holding as their buds begin to swell.

In a few weeks the garden will explode with foliage and colour and it never ceases to amaze me.
