Happy Halloween!
Today is the 31st October and usually this day marks the last day open for the year for us but this year we decided to stay open for an extra 2 weeks until the 15th November!
That’s right – a bonus 15 days to come and visit the garden – and season pass holders for 2022 are welcome to visit using their passes too.
Over the last few years we have been noticing the autumn colours have been tending to peak later and later – sometimes peaking right before we close for the season, and other years just after! The garden fortunately grows a variety of Japanese maples (the showstoppers of autumn) and their transition into their autumn colours is different in speed for different varieties, which fortunately means there are often fantastic colours to be found throughout autumn, however, there is often a moment when the majority of maples are peaking and it feels like everywhere you look there is vibrant colour!
This time is my personal favourite time of the year. There are usually leaves falling everywhere and every gentle breeze brings more tumbling down from the trees. Its nature at its finest and I am filled with emotion throughout this beautiful season.
So… this year we wanted to see when the autumn colour would peak and give our visitors more of a chance to visit and luckily the colour is now beginning to look wonderful – but the slow changers are still holding out – so it looks like it will be worth us staying open to reach the peak!
Since the clocks changed on Sunday we are now closing 1 hour earlier at 5pm – last entry to the garden at 4pm.
If you are hoping to visit before we close then you have a whole 15 days left! So please enjoy and hopefully we will see you all before the end of our season.
