Bonsai is an art and having the right tools is essential when you progress to working on beautiful, old specimens but when you first start out Bonsai can be primarily about meeting the horticultural needs of your new tree. The Bonsai Accessory kit contains a bag of compost so you can propagate cuttings from your tree, or can be saved ready for re-potting your Bonsai in Spring. The grit can be used to dress the surface of your tree or added in to the compost for extra drainage. The fertiliser should be used monthly; only during the growing months, and only when your tree is growing vigorously. The leaf cutters are perfect for pruning new growth and individual leaves as you begin learning how to shape and style the foliage pads. The mist sprayer should be used daily to increase humidity for the foliage (if your tree is growing indoors). The root stick is an ideal tool when you repot your tree as it allows you to push compost in to the very hard to reach areas around the roots. And finally; the 1 meter of 1mm wire will allow you to begin experimenting with wiring and start getting a feel for how to shape your Bonsai.
