Our last month open for 2018 has begun!

It always amazes me how quickly the season goes once we get to the Summer and this year has been no exception.

We have had a beautiful, warm and dry Summer this year and the garden has been growing like crazy! Luckily we are so close to the water table that the plants and trees have had lots of water despite our lack of rain – keeping everything looking lush and vibrant.

Now that the Summer has passed and we have entered the gorgeous season of Autumn; the garden is enjoying cooler temperatures and crisper, golden light. I love the way the light is at this time of year – its just stunning and it makes everything look as if its glowing.

The Japanese Maples are particular favourites at this time of year as they have begun changing their colours and the greens and reds are now shifting to dazzling shades of yellow, orange, bright red and deep purples. They change at different times during the autumn, but October is the perfect time to see them.

Many leaves are falling from the branches and coming to rest on the pathways now and it has a feeling of peace in the garden.

This is our last month open for 2018 (our last day open to the public is 31st October 2018) after this month we are closed to the public until the 1st March 2019!
