The garden sleeps!
Fantastic shapes in wood and stone, hidden in summer, reappear now. Evergreens & winter flowering plants colour the landscape & the slumbering
trees display their intricate forms. Dramatic architecture revealed! The garden was built to be beautiful in winter; the shapes and choices in trees and plant species can be appreciated at this time. Light levels drop and days are shorter and the plants settle in for the coldest time of the year. Temperatures are at their lowest; sometimes freezing and very occasionally getting snowfall!
The garden sleeps at this time of year and there is a feeling of peace.
It is a time of rest.
– Although the garden is closed from 31st October until 1st March, the most recent photos taken in the snow were shot on the 1st and 2nd of March 2018, so it is still possible to see the garden in its Winter form if you can visit at the beginning of March.
