Today we began the project of taking down the bridge in the Japanese garden. The bridge has been standing since the garden was first opened in 1997 & this year its being re-built.

It was a freezing cold day today & my car was covered in ice this morning when I set off to the garden. The light was so beautiful due to the cloudless, clear skies & although it was very chilly, the sunshine made for a lovely & productive day. Luckily the team all warmed up with all the hard work on the bridge.

It has been a long time since I saw the bridge first being created; at least 20 years ago and so today marked a rather exciting step in the garden’s history. When the bridge was first erected, I was around 10 years old, & 20 years later, I am viewing the old bridge being taken down & the new one soon to be built. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us!

More on this project soon
