As May comes to an end the garden is bursting with life everywhere you look.

Today I visited the garden for the first time in a couple of weeks and the rain was gently coming down during my entire walk around. It was so beautiful.

I love the rain and find the atmosphere in the garden at its best when the rain is pouring. You don’t get the same aesthetic beauty from the sunlight during the rain, but there is a feeling of freedom when it rains as the garden is cleansed by the water.

The Japanese maples are now in full leaf and growing fast! The acers turn from their spring colours to their summer pallet at this time of year and my visit today definitely showed this to be the case. It won’t be long now before spring gives way entirely to summer.

A few of the late flowering azaleas are now in bloom but the majority of the blossoming bushes are now past their best.

The lilies are now looking stunning and the candelabra primulas are still displaying their beautiful flowers too. Even a few of the purple irises are still showing off their colours.

I had such a beautiful visit today in the rain.

I sat at the Zen garden just listening to the sound of raindrops pattering against the leaves. I could have sat their for hours if I could have!

It was exactly what I needed and I felt recharged after my visit.

This Weekend is the Jubilee bank holiday and we will be open everyday with our normal opening hours. Hope everyone has a great week.
