Spectacular October 2025

The middle of October and the garden is showing off some stunning autumn colours now.

The Japanese maples never disappoint at this tike of year but they do reach a colour peak of vibrance at different times and some are much further along than others now.

There are over 100 maples growing in the garden and so many are different varieties it really is incredible to see how they differ in colour and timing during this time.

The Acers (maples) are not the only show-offs in October either as the cherry trees have been giving us a wonderful show of orange, yellow and even red tones over the last couple of weeks.

The large one that overhangs the koi pond is now past its brightest and many leaves have fallen into the pond but the colours are still wonderful and the other cherries in the garden are beginning to transform now too.

Many of our Bonsai are now looking beautiful colours now too and some are already dropping their stunning leaves!

My visit today was just what I needed – surrounded by trees, leaves and colours and I took so many photos which made it very hard to choose which ones to post – I narrowed it down… but couldn’t resist sharing lots of them – pictured below.

The Tea house roof refurbishment is going well and the new roof is beginning to take shape – a slightly different design to before but one that will be very efficient at running the water away. We have also added copper to the joints which will also give the roof longevity and an interesting finish – which hopefully everyone will enjoy for the years to come.
