September Sunshine 2025

September this year has brought some beautiful golden sunshine and some much cooler temperatures!

We have been surprised by how cool the nights have gotten in the last couple of weeks – I suspect the clear skies have allowed the cold to really settle in.

The sunshine has been wonderful over the last few days and the quality of the light has bathed the garden in a warm, orange hue.

September is a tricky month for the garden as the plants are not yet in their vivid autumnal colours but the leaves begin to fall.

Its the messiest time of year but at the same time the trees and plants are tired from so much summer sun. Hints of the autumn colour are now popping up but the spectacular transformation is not yet present.

Visitors who are gardeners themselves appreciate this time and know the hard work that it takes to keep a space maintained.

As October soon approaches we look forward to seeing the Japanese maples put on their autumn colours and the garden becomes a haven of vivid colour. Although trees peak at different times during the autumn – I always recommend the end of October into the beginning of November to see the garden at its most spectacular. This can change each year as the weather and temperatures have a huge impact on the timing. So we will have to wait and see this year.
