October Colours

As we enter the third week of October in 2024 the colours are popping with our Japanese maples giving us all the transformation we have been waiting for!

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year and the colours really are worth waiting all year for.

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last week but also a few sunny days; so the garden has had a real mixture of weather.

We have so many Japanese maples planted in the garden that autumn is always exciting with colours changing suddenly and at slightly different times.

Many of the early changing maples have already peaked, the middle timed ones are just beginning to turn and the late changing ones have yet to show us their autumn tones.

Every few days the garden looks different as the trees change radically at this time.

We used to close at the end of October but often found that the peak of autumn colour came just after October ended – so we now stay open until November 15th – so everyone gets a chance to see the garden in its full splendour before we close to the public for winter.

The clocks change this Sunday (27th October 2024) – so as soon as this happens we will be closing 1 hour earlier due to the light levels (5pm closing time – last garden entry will be at 4pm).
