Late October 2024

As we come to the end of October and prepare for our final 2 weeks open into November; the garden is singing with autumnal colour.

The clocks have now changed and so our closing time is now 1 hour earlier: We now close at 5pm – with last garden entry at 4pm – 7 days a week until our final day open for the year on 15th November.

The colours now on display in the garden from some of the Japanese maples are incredible. The waterfall acer is now a vivid red!

The Osakazuki acer by the koi pond is a few days away from reaching its peak.

Many of the maples are now at their peak but the late turning ones are just starting to show autumn colours and will not be at their best for at least a week I predict.

As we are at the end of October I feel so pleased that we made the choice to stay open until November 15th instead of closing (as we used to) on 31st October – we noticed year on year that we often didn’t get the full peak of autumn garden until after we had closed to the public. Now we stay open the extra 2 weeks and everyone gets the chance to see the garden at its autumnal best.
