October has arrived and the autumn season is definitely upon us!
Today has been a rather wet and windy day; blowing many, many leaves from the trees. Our poor gardeners are fighting an endless battle; to keep the garden tidy as every gust of wind blows more leaves to the ground.
I love the autumn season, and the falling leaves add something beautiful to the atmosphere of the garden. There is a feeling of deep relaxation at this time of year as leaves let go of their hold on the trees and lift off from the branches to float gently to the ground. That feeling of letting go is always present through autumn; more so than any other time of year i think.
Today i took a walk in the garden with my camera and, although very wet and overcast, i felt totally calmed by the space. The light is shining on the many Japanese Maple leaves from the rain this morning, making them glisten as the wind rocks them in to motion. They almost look as if they are dancing, in waves of movement. Its beautiful and kind of mesmerising to watch!
My eye was drawn to the autumn colours now being displayed by some of the trees; the reds, oranges and golden tones are now appearing throughout the garden; punctuating the green landscape.
This is our last month open for the 2017 season! So if you are planning a visit this year; make sure you come to see us by October 31st 2017!
