Heat Wave In June 2025

It has definitely felt like summer the last few days with temperatures soaring high and the sun blazing in blue skies!

The light has been pouring through maples leaves and radiating the space.

Fortunately the garden has remained beautifully cool with plenty of shaded areas which has been a welcome experience for our visitors. Being situated at the bottom of the Vale of Lanhearne also means that we are very close to the water table and so our plants remain looking luscious even when its a heatwave.

The heat is not the only thing going on this week – the Tea house roof was recently damaged when a nearby tree crashed down on to it during a storm. The roof is now being replaced so all the old wood is being removed to show off the fantastic structure underneath!

I absolutely love seeing it this way – with the architecture of the building being is full view. Its a much more complex design than one may initially assume so its wonderful to see at the moment – lets just hope it continues to stay dry.

The garden is still gracing us with a few azalea blossoms and a few lilies and candelabra primulas can still be spotted flowering but we are definitely moving in to the summer mode of the garden which focuses on the beautiful textures and subtle colour variations of the plants.

The sun is providing everything with so much energy and you can see plants literally growing by the day.
