Is it Spring? Who knows with all the ice and snow that keeps coming and going!
The garden is trying its best to commit to a season, but the plants keep getting a wintery shock of snow and ice.
Snow is utterly magical, and the garden looks like a fairyland when the snow is covering it, but it is so so cold! The plants which are showing off their pretty flowers are being knocked back with the cold weather and the Japanese Maples are reluctant to open their delicate baby leaves when the temperatures are so chilly.
Hopefully we are moving towards some warmer times as Easter is fast approaching, and we will be looking forward to seeing the Spring flowing azaleas and cherry blossoms once it warms up a little.
My walk around the garden today saw snow melting on the trees and branches and i caught a few lovely pictures of the Camellia flowers covered in fluffy white clouds.
The sun was shining and so the snow from yesterday was no longer blanketing the garden, but rather covering little patches and the tops of branches and leaves. It feels very different day to day at the moment, with the weather being so changeable and the plants trying their best to emerge from their winter slumber.
Hopefully the sun will keep shining and warming the garden!
We have also been busy building some new staging for our Show Bonsai collection and we have had many new trees arrive this week, including some with amazing roots allowing us to create some ‘On a Rock’ style Bonsai!
