Autumn is simply unbeatable for colour in the garden and this year is no exception!
I am so pleased that we are reaching the peak of vivid colour (for most off the acers) before we close in a weeks time. After the year we have all had – this was very needed I think.
Yesterday I grabbed my camera just as the sunshine was peeking out and made my way down in to the garden. Before I even got in to the garden I was met with colourful leaves turning at the gate. These first few maples are still not at their peak but they are the minority now. As I followed the pathways everywhere I look there is a flash of dramatic red, orange or yellow. The leaves look almost artificial because the colour is so bright.
My partner, Stuart, was busy clearing fallen leaves when I met with him and bless him; he really is fighting a losing battle with that! 😂
Every gust of wind brought more leaves down and the wind seemed to be picking up strength.
The garden inevitably has a messier look to it in autumn as the leaves keep dropping and the pathways get carpeted in brightly coloured, star-like shaped foliage. It feels like nature is taking back control in autumn and our influence over the garden takes a back-seat. I love this! Although I appreciate its not quite so romantic for the gardeners 😉
My walk around the garden was a well needed breath of fresh air and my camera was full of photographs when I finally dragged myself away.
With only 1 week left before we close to the public for the 2020 season, I can’t quite believe that we have made it. What a crazy year.
Stuart and I have worked flat out all year to keep the business going and to maintain the health of our trees and the garden. We couldn’t have done nit without the support of our family & friends, our amazing staff and every single person who has visited this season.
